Our Carbon Farming Process

Enquiry

In just a few days, we will provide a no-cost and no-obligation preliminary assessment to explore the potential of a viable carbon project on your property.

For many landholders, this is the start of their journey to understand carbon and environmental markets. We pride ourselves on upskilling and educating anyone interested in this new and emerging industry.

Request your no-cost assessment!

At this stage:

  • All you need to do is provide your property details (Lot on Plan / Title Reference and Property name).
  • Our specialist team conducts a preliminary desktop assessment of your property and provides the results back to you in just a few days.

Detailed Assessment

If the potential for a carbon project has been identified, the Upscale Carbon team will undertake a rigorous Detailed Assessment. Once again this is a no-cost and no-obligation step that provides you with a detailed project proposal.

The Project Proposal will:

  • Provide an estimate of Total Project carbon credits (ACCUs).
  • Undertake detailed mapping and consideration of eligible land.
  • Include an analysis of critical climatic and ecological information that is specific to you and your business.
  • Provide important information about project methodologies available to you under the Emissions Reduction Fund.
  • Discuss important industry terms such as suppression, additionality, leakage, etc.
  • Explore potential project co-benefits which may allow you to achieve a premium on your ACCU price.
  • Identify risks associated with your carbon project.
  • Provide more detail to help you understand carbon and environmental markets.

Commit & Register

Up until this stage, all work undertaken by Upscale Carbon is at no cost or obligation to you, the landholder.

If you decide to proceed with your carbon project (after careful consideration of the opportunities and risks), we’ll send you a Carbon Project Agreement, and if it all stacks up at your end, we can begin developing the project.

At this stage, the Upscale Carbon team will:

  • Send our Ecology and Field Teams to your property to undertake a comprehensive field assessment.
  • Engage with stakeholders, including State Governments, Native Title Organisations, mining companies and banks, to gain their consent for the project.
  • Register the project on your behalf.
  • Continue to educate and upskill you.
  • Work with you to finalise a document called a Land Management Strategy that will set out the management practices you will seek to undertake as part of the carbon project.

Monitoring and Maintenance

At this stage of the project, we work with you to ensure that the project is operating in accordance with the law and maximising carbon opportunities.

Once the project commences, the Upscale Carbon team will continue to:

  • Undertake regular inspections of your property.
  • Provide ongoing annual monitoring, project audits & offset reports.
  • Adhere to record-keeping obligations.
  • Update and modify your Land Management Strategy.
  • Explore any new opportunities in future environmental markets.
